Wellness Workshop: The Science of Meditation for Healing the Mind and Body

Please join Engage Wellness on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. for a community presentation on the benefits of mindfulness and meditation. This completely free workshop, open to the public, will focus on how to integrate mindfulness and meditation into daily life. Our presenter will share how meditation is an extremely powerful tool for healing the body and mind — accessible to you at any time, any place. Participants will learn relaxation exercises during the workshop. Presented by: Sarah Fischer, PhD, Psychology, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry. Engage Wellness is located on the first floor of the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging on UNMC’s campus. This event will be hosted in the Group Movement Room.

Wellness Workshop: Communication Strategies for Alzheimer’s Disease

Please join Engage Wellness on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. for a community presentation on Alzheimer's disease, its impact on communication, and how to navigate changes as the disease progresses. This workshop is free and open to the public. Our guest presenter from our local Alzheimer's Association chapter will explain the communication changes that take place throughout the course of Alzheimer’s disease, how to decode and respond to verbal and behavioral messages, and strategies to connect and communicate with loved ones at each stage of the disease. Presented by: The Alzheimer's Association Nebraska Chapter. Engage Wellness is located on the first floor of the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging on UNMC’s campus. This event will be hosted in the Group Movement Room.

Q2 TWP Member Roundtable

Join us on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 12:00-1:00 p.m. (Central Daylight Time) for an online member roundtable. All TWP partners with an active membership are invited to join. The purpose is to provide a space for the group to gather collectively and gain insight from each other. TWP will guide the conversation providing participants an opportunity to share their challenges and successes. This is a great opportunity to learn what other organizations are doing and to share ideas. Active TWP Workplace Partners (members) may use the code (found in your April Member Newsletter email) to register for this event for FREE. Quarterly Mental Health Roundtable

Purpose: Join The Wellbeing Partners as we discuss ongoing efforts to prioritize mental health, including the Metro Region’s Community Health Improvement Plan, 2024 Community Health Assessment, and the WhatMakesUs stigma reduction campaign. Community partners will have a chance to share any relevant mental health and wellbeing updates. Audience: community members and community organizations in Cass (NE), Douglas (NE), Pottawattamie (IA), and Sarpy (NE) counties. Coalition Vision: Address the challenges medically complex homeless individuals in the Omaha Council Bluffs Metro face through the design of a continuum of services that identifies frequent users of healthcare systems and emergency shelters and connect them into the appropriate level of care. We hope that you will: engage in shared learning around health and housing, serve as a thought partner and give input during the medical respite pilot, and recruit additional partners when applicable.
