The regional Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) addresses a priority health need based on community feedback. In 2018, the Douglas, Sarpy/Cass, and Pottawattamie Health Departments began to work collaboratively for the first time on the regional CHIP.
The current regional CHIP, 2020-2022, tackles the community-identified need of mental health. Within this topic, community members identified four priorities within the topic of mental health that outline the aspects of need within our communities:
– decrease mental health stigma
– increase connections to mental health resources
– connect people to increased social supports
– reduce trauma
Anyone is welcome to help with the CHIP work! To join work on the regional plan and to be placed in a workgroup, please email Claudia Granillo, Community Organizer for The Wellbeing Partners.
